Kiley Ames traces her friend’s journey from breast cancer prevention to diagnosis and treatment in three concurrent series of paintings. Part I (Hilary) has eight full portraits of Hilary made over the course of several years; Part II (Bodyscapes) takes a more generalized view of the body via closely cropped fragments; paintings in Part III (Early Detection) are her visual interpretation of real-life mammograms. The book was produced by Ames with the support of a crowdfunding campaign.
